Originally begun for the children of the Napili Kai Beach Resort employees, the Foundation has grown in scope and purpose, today reaching youngsters from Napili to Lahaina. Under the direction of a board of directors comprised of staff members and shareholders of the Napili Kai Beach Resort, this non-profit organization introduces children to the dances, language, history, arts and crafts of Polynesia.
Children 6 to 18 years of age take part in a variety of activities and educational excursions: a trek to the mountains for ferns and flowers from which to make lei... a visit to the beach for pebbles that become ili'ili, Hawaii's castanets... special trips to Oahu's Bishop Museum or Polynesian Cultural Center. |
